It depends on the length and content of the source video. A 60-minute podcast typically generates 6–12 clips. Shorter videos may produce fewer. Clips are 45–90 seconds each, optimised for short-form platforms.
Your first 1,800 clips are completely free on the Starter plan — 600 clips per platform across YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram. Your first payment only comes after approximately 30 days.
Choosing the right source channel
The biggest factor in your clip channel's success is the quality of your source channel. Here is what works best:
Pick a source channel that already has decent views. ShortsPilot clips and distributes — it does not create an audience from scratch. A channel with proven content gives you a head start.
Talking heads, discussions, and bold opinions perform best. Podcasts, news reviews, political commentary, and debate-style content clip naturally into strong short-form moments. Music, tutorials, and silent content do not clip well.
The source channel needs to post at least one new video per day. Your clip channel needs a constant feed of fresh content. A source that posts once a week will leave your clip channel inactive for days at a time, hurting your algorithm reach.
